What is One Thousand Days of Plague?
One Thousand Days of Plague was created to provide a free question bank and training resource for trainees in pediatric and adult infectious diseases.
Why is it called "One Thousand Days of Plague?"
It sounds cool. Also, a pediatric infectious disease fellowship is three years long, or about 1,095 days. It kind of fits. I just went with it.
Who manages this website?
My name is TW Jones. I am a pediatric infectious disease specialist at the University of Utah and Primary Children's Hospital. This website strictly represents my own views and opinions.
How should I use this question bank?
However you want. These questions were originally flashcards I created in preparation for my board exam. I wrote all of them while reading through various resources, like the American Academy of Pediatrics Red Book or Infectious Disease Society of America guidelines. It seemed like a shame to throw them away or recycle them, so instead I put them on this website.
I debated creating something fancier using an interactive quiz format, but I decided instead that I want these to be easily copy/pasted, printed out, etc., so fellows in training could make their own flashcards, print them out as a booklet, create a study guide, use them for board review sessions, etc.
How many questions are there?
This is a work in progress. The goal is to upload over 1000 questions. I will strive to write some of them in board-style format, others as simple rote-memorization flash cards.
What should I do if I find an error?
Please let me know. I tried my best to double-check everything against reliable sources, which I have cited for every question. Use the contact form in the sidebar to the left, and specify the page and question where you found the error.
